So, I FINALLY watched MILK...Gus Van Sant rescues another poorly scripted movie...

Wanted it to be better than it was...in many ways too much like a documentary and straightforward..this happened, then that happened.

Sean Penn was really, really, really good.

Wht sticks in my mind is that guy who owend the Advocate and the Advocate wouldn't endorse a gay candidate...my, how times have changed....wait, no they haven't, because the guy (and his lover) were all about waiting for the "right time."

Remind you of the HRC?

3. Penn is a hell of an actor. Another two taking difficult roles are

DiCaprio and Robert Downey, and doing them well.

I just hope writers and directors get the best out of all of them. Milk was made decent by Penn.

(I actually went *out* to see Milk, which I never do, but I couldn't wait for the DVD.)

Anyway, those opening scenes were what people were talking about after the movie was over. With shock and anger.

sustained...but yeah, even on a dvd those scenes really piss you off.

7. I didn't much like it either, but I'm glad it was popular.

It did view like a documentary... a 'not very good' one. Besides there was a much better documentary produced on the topic about 15 years ago, The Life and Times of Harvey Milk.

title...basically he spent most of the book bashing dems and trying to justify the Log Cabin repukes.

14. The screenplay Oscar has always been the biggest joke of all the Oscars...

...they give it to the movie that's nominated for best picture but won't win...sort of a consolation prize...rarely is it given solely for writing, and, in this case, pretty pedestrian writing.
