Gays Disappear From Network TV

Despite the emergence of three LGBT television networks gays have all but disappeared from the six major broadcast networks according to a new study.

After a promising network pilot season that saw many new shows developed with gay and lesbian characters, the actual number of LGBT representations on the six networks will comprise less than 2% of all characters on the networks’ 2005-06 schedule, according to the analysis conducted by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

GLAAD said Monday that it counts only 16 "series regular” and recurring gay, lesbian and bisexual roles and there continues to be no transgender characters.

Imagine if two radio talkshow hosts (similar to Al Franken and Bill O'Reilly) were roommates and closeted gay lovers.

7. On NPR last weekend they had a segment about this

Said John Ritter was pretty much obsessed with this.
Had a lot to do with a CIA program (can't remember the name) to reduce "harmful" Hollywood impact on American public.
Seems Ritter was on the verge of going public with this when he died.

On second thought it might have been on "Fresh Air".
