Dear Mississippi Safe Schools Coalition Members,
I would like to begin by thanking everyone for the overwhelmingly positive response we have received from the community around the state in regards to Constance McMillen being denied the opportunity to attend prom with her girlfriend, and wear a tux. We are truly humbled by everyone's commitment to ensuring diversity has its place among southern values.
At this point we are actively working to solidify plans for "Second Chance Prom". The prom will be open to students from all over the state, including those displaced by the prom cancellation at Itawamba Agricultural High School. As soon as the specifics of this event are solidified you will be the first to find out. I would like to remind everyone to check back frequently to our website
http://mssafeschools.org If you have any questions for the Queer Youth Advisory Board, MSSC's governing body, please email us: info@mssafeschools.org
Please keep up the good fight, and finally, to all the students have a safe and relaxing spring break.
Best Regards,
Queer Youth Advisory Board
