We won
in the news of the past few days about the devestation in the south, we need all the good news that we can get

today, the California state Senate passed a law allowing same-sex couples to get married.

all it needs now is Ahnuld's signature--even if he vetoes, we still will have won

California has become the first state legislature to recognize that same-sex couples deserve all the same benefits of heterosexual couples.

I'm on the verge of tears right now--tears of happiness.

We did it! We won.

1. It won't pass the assembly.
This goes to the assembly for concurrence now, and it won't pass--there aren't the votes for it. Sadly, it also is most likely to be found unconstitutional since the voters passed proposition 22. I think the best way to win this is to sponsor an intiative and fight among the voters--every two years if necessary.

4. I think it will pass
and I'm pretty sure that it isn't affected by Prop 22.

there was debate about that before the courts overturned the state statute limiting marriage to a man and a woman

Only bright spot of the day. Can't wait for the wedding pics. Happy pics, with loving people, smiling, happy. I look forward to that, hope it's soon.

3. That is wonderful news ...
Congrats to my brothers and sisters in California! :toast: :applause:

(Oh ... but be careful. If God can send a hurricane to punish New Orleans for Southern Decadence, who knows what he'll hurl at the Granola-Land for lettin' them homo-seck-shuls get married just like they were reg'lar folks!)

5. Arnold said that he wouldn't oppose this. On this, I take him at his word.
I don't think he'll veto this.

You're right...in a horrible week, this is a ray of sunshine. This is fabulous news!

Congratulations to my gay brothers and sisters in California! :bounce:
