I understand that many will find the idea of a parade in New Orleans right now incomprehensible and tacky. However, I don't. People in the Quarter have fought ignorance and intolerance for decades. A few of them managed to survive Katrina undefeated and chose to hold a small celebration today in honor of the 33rd anniversary of "Southern Decadence Days".

They took ten minutes out of their living nightmare to be silly and funny and act like "N'awlin's" was still standing. I give them credit for giving me hope.
It was the first time since Katrina hit that I've seen a tiny inkling of what New Orleans is really all about and I was thrilled to see it. Someday, want to give Miss "Jelly Sandwich" a big old body hug!
