Target Contributes to Antigay Politician
Target, the LGBT-friendly department store chain, has contributed $150,000 to Minnesota Forward, a political action committee that supports Minnesota Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, an opponent of gay marriage, reports NBC Bay Area. Emmer, who says "I believe marriage is the union between one man and one woman," received the money for TV ads. Website SFist reports that Emmer is also friends with controversial musician Bradlee Dean, of the Christian rock band called You Can Run But You Cannot Hide. Dean was recently quoted saying that Muslim countries that execute LGBTs are "more moral than even the American Christians." Target, whose company headquarters is located in Minneapolis, released a statement that says, "Target supports causes and candidates based strictly on issues that affect our retail and business interests."

3. "Christian" rock band "You Can Run But You Cannot Hide"... yeah, that's a stupendous name! LOL
Edited on Sat Jul-24-10 10:39 PM by Divine Discontent
I know Christian rock (from Petra, Jars of Clay, and Third Day), and I've never heard of them, and I'm sure 99.9% of other gospel listeners had ever heard of them - which means they're some neo-religious group of morons that got together to make a propaganda-ridden band with a cheesy long name to imply "we're gonna get you muslins!".

They are only hired, surely, by the craziest of Evangelical churches to play to their youth groups (who I'm sure want to fall asleep or laugh throughout the concert).

Shame on Target for giving that group so much cash. $150K is not small potatoes, and to give it to a group that supports a close-minded GOP poli is sad.

5. That's as may be, but they are not alone among 'gospel haters'
The invective breathing Donnie McClurkin, he of international gay baiting, Exodus International, he who calls gay people vampires and child killers is a huge selling 'gospel artist' and he has been employed by Barack Obama as surrogate, sung at RNC conventions, and been on Oprah. So while the gospel world is also filled with great inclusive entertainers, to even imply that the hate speakers are left to the fridges is really not accurate. Just the truth, that is all that is needed.
So unless you wish to defend McClurkin, understand that the gospel world is as varied as any other.

6. He's just gonna sing one song!
Oh, yes, I know, there's plenty of bigotry to go around in the contemporary Christian, and Gospel realm of music. You make a good point by bringing up McClurkin. I rarely have heard many of his level of sales be so divisive against GLBT, as usually people don't want to offend any part of their audience. But, since he's a self-hater who refuses to allow himself to be who God created him (imho), he has no problem then trying to prove he's a "Godly man", by being "not Gay". I don't think I've heard him ever say he was straight, just that he's not gay anymore or such gibberish. Ha...

Oh, the battles in McClurkin's mind are surely a circus! And, unlike his natural sexuality, that's by his choice!

4. 90% of their 90% gay staff quitting might not be so good
for their retail or business interests
workplace harassment is a rather insidious thing, if you get my drift.
