Kalamazoo's Terry Kuseske passed away
Via email -

-----
The state of Michigan has lost a dedicated friend and activist of LGBT justice and equality. Terry Kuseske passed away Sept. 2, 2010, after a nine month battle with cancer.

Terry was the first openly gay City Commissioner in Kalamazoo. He was a founding member of Kalamazoo Alliance for Equality (KAFE). Also, he served on the Board of Directors of Michigan Equality for three years. Recently, he was a Board Member for Equality Michigan.

But most of all, Terry was our friend. He personally touched the lives of thousands, and the entire state, indirectly, through his unwavering passion for LGBT rights. Many of us knew him, many more of us knew of him. While we will miss Terry terribly, he lived a rich life and we are so grateful for the difference he made. He set the bar high, and in his honor, Equality Michigan will continue the journey to equal rights with the same dignity and respect that was characteristic of Terry Kuseske.

Arrangements are being handled by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, Oshtemo Township.

The Kalamazoo Gay and Lesbian Resource Center has set up a scholarship fund for LGBT youth in Terry's honor. Contributions can be sent to:
