Adoption question
Hey all,

My partner and I have decided to start investigating the adoption process, and we're essentially know-nothing novices. Any advice welcome at this stage - where do we even start? How much money will we need? Is age a factor (I'm 39, he's 34)? We're in Maryland, and look to be here a while. Thanks for whatever information anyonbe can offer!

1. I don't know a whole lot...
My aunt and uncle have adopted two little Chinese girls. The process to get the first child was a very long one spanning over several years. The girls are absolutely adorable though and my aunt and uncle say that adopting is the best thing they have ever done.

3. Decide where you want to adopt FROM.
Eg. domestically or internationally. I know more about international. You may PM or email me if you wish.

You are not too old. My guess is that currently most international adoptions will cost about 25,000, from beginning to end, including INS costs.(INS is step #1; you must get approval for your child to immigrate.)

Most foreign countries do not do gay adoptions. If you are not married, you may do one as a single parent. A number of countries permit single males to adopt, including this one. But most do not.

Good luck.
