2. George Takei did a great job playing Sulu as a straight man.
I just think it would be a nice tribute to Mr. Takei to re-write the character. I mean, if young Spock can have the hots for Uhura, why not give Sulu a husband?

6. A husband, sure...just remember...
Sulu is the only "main crewmember" of the Enterprise to have a family (and kids). So a husband, sure. And then adopt or any other method to get the kids.

8. It may happen, now that Rick Berman isn't involved.
He stopped any of that from appearing in any of his series. Even though by Star Date 4783974539201.102, you'd think people would have stopped caring.

It's an interesting idea that you pose, but I doubt it will happen. Star Trek has been infamous for never having gay characters, at least not main characters that are gay.
