So our civil rights have been denied for this grand political moment.
All the suffering and inequality endured. All the hate crimes unpunished. All the blackmail of gay soldiers. All the LGBT workers fired without cause.

From here on out, no excuses. You're either a craven political coward or you're fighting for justice.

1. I know, I'm certainly sick of seeing gay people's rights used as a bargaining chip
Good luck

5. No prob, Mitch.
I went Democratic over Green in one race only. I have no illusions about the Green Party; it's simply the only way to voice dissent with the system from a left perspective. I voted for Democrats in every race there wasn't a progressive 3rd party. However, in the presidential election, I will not vote Democratic unless Obama is primaried from the left.

Now that he's going further right, there is no way. He's already barely to the left of Reagan on economics. One step further to the right and he is a full-on Republican. I have no sympathy for him. He owns this failure. It is all him and his tone-deaf cabinet.

13. Sometimes and at some moments in history its true.
This is one of those moments. Bush, on the other hand, was full of shit.

11. Now you see, if you just keep quiet until 2012, when the election is over...
then we'll have the leverage to get things done...that'snot too much to ask, is it?

19. They waited and waited and waited while they had all that power.
We got nothing but table scraps instead of real rights.

We were told that we were being ungrateful for not being happy enough with just those scraps. We were the ones causing trouble by wanting more, wanting real equality. Oh, how mean of us to dare to want to be equal!

Now we will be blamed for our the party's loss of power by people who swear that they are our "allies."

And this loss of power, that we will be blamed for, will be used to justify why the party can no longer work towards our equal rights anymore.
- Our issues are just wedge issues.
- It's just not the right time anymore. We missed that window of opportunity.
- The groups working against us are too rich and too mobilized, so we're considered too toxic to work with.

I know I'm glad that if I move, the federal government won't require me to figure out which of the stuff in my apartment is mine and which is my husband's.

Maybe the Democratic Party should consider that it needs to EARN our vote?
