Smarmy weasel Hal Sparks thinks Teh Gheys are responsible for Tuesday's losses
I just heard him on the Wednesday podcast of the Stephanie Miller show. He says the failure of the LGBT community to shut up and accept the lack of progress on civil rights is why the Republicans won the House.

Fuck you, Hal.

1. Hal Sparks singlehandedly made Queer as Folk suck.
Why on earth would he be opening his gob on a political show? Shouldn't he be out there trying to revive his dead career?

5. I heard if Obama just brought over 5 million of the 14 million young voters who he lost
he had 2 years ago then he would have kept the majorities. All of this 5 million lost voters can't be gay.

13. Talking to Stephanie Miller and peddling this crap was especially tone deaf and idiotic.
Ol' Hal DID know that Stephanie Miller recently came out, didn't he?

Nothing like some straight person lecturing us about being patient and shutting the fuck up and being good little boys and girls and accepting our civil rights when straight people like Hal Sparks decides that it's time for us.

Another stupid fuckwad to ignore.

Is that who you are discussing? If so, he is a know-nothing little twerp. This is the same asshole who compared kissing a man to kissing a dog. What the fuck is he doing?! He is a taint.

17. Thanks For Saying It......
That Is My Thoughts Exactly........

If the "Velvet Mafia" did exist (on a large scale, if it exists at all)......

Or if we had such political capital, they would be listening to us.... and......

We would not be begging for rights, haters would not be throwing shit in our faces, Gays would not be hanged in Iran, Gay death squads would not exist in Iraq, no appeals would be filed anywhere, we would not be refused access to our loved ones in the hospital, if our partner dies, we would not loose all rights/home/property/belongings to our partners hating family (as a long lost cousin has more rights than the unmarried partner)... and lastly... if we were so powerful, we wouldn't be asking for that fucking pony... we would be able to take what rightfully belongs to us in the first place.

(and I know I have forgotten a million examples from the above list that we would have if we were indeed as powerful as they profess... but they (the haters) know that... as all of these fairy tales are a way to keep hate, fear, marginalization of Queers alive)

http://www.thepoliticalcarnival.net/2009/12/health-care-pms/
This morning on the Stephanie Miller Show, Hal Sparks said of Dems who are feeling impatient, “It’s like shaking a baby who is learning to walk and keeps falling, and yelling at him, ‘Just do it already! Get up and walk! What’s your problem?!’”

And all these conflicting emotions stem from having high expectations and seeing them crash around me. Where did those expectations come from?

This is where I may differ with a lot of you. Most of them didn’t come from Obama. I’ve always seen him as a centrist who is willing to play with the boys and girls I don’t like. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been disappointed by him, but not entirely surprised. He wanted a health care bill passed, but not necessarily a good bill, not the one you and I want. He said as much. He just said it in such a way that convinced us he was for the same bill we were.

But he revealed many a clue that suggested his idea of a good bill and mine differed.

I am more disgusted with Congress. I had faith in the Progressives, and was buoyed by their happy talk. Obama made deals early on that signaled his willingness to compromise away the best parts of real reform. Just as, during the election, he campaigned on escalation in Afghanistan, lowering my hopes for peace, he also worded his health care campaign promises in a way that told me he’d do pretty much what he’s doing. But I still wanted to believe my health care wishes would come true, and that the Progressives in Congress could make that happen.

22. For anyone doubting Graz on this, I can report that I heard
the very same thing as I was listening to the show live on Wednesday. To add a bit more detail, he was blaming the GLBT community in Illinois for the election of Mark Kirk, claiming there were enough "apathetic gays" that failed to come out to vote, thus allowing Kirk to achieve victory.
