GLAD To Launch Second DOMA Suit
GLAD To Launch Second DOMA Suit

Tomorrow the Gay & Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (GLAD) will launch a DOMA lawsuit against the federal government on behalf of a Connecticut lesbian couple. Earlier this year, GLAD won a similar suit in Massachusetts in a ruling that the Obama administration is appealing. The New York Times reports: (More at link)

2. That's great news!
Massachusetts is in the 1st Federal Circuit; Connecticut is in the 2nd. If GLAD wins its suit in Connecticut resulting in agreeing opinions in two different circuit courts, that would create a solid and healthy Federal precedent should appeal(s) for the case(s) be heard by the SCOTUS.

K&R!

3. Same lawsuit as the one from Mass.
I wish they would challenge the lack of recognition of interstate marriages. If a heterosexual couple goes to Iowa to get married, Indiana recognizes their marriage. Mine, not so much. My wife was with TSA, she is now working for the state of Indiana. Neither recognize us as spouses. Neither allow us to be insured under the "family" plan. I called Lambda legal and they said that GLAD's lawsuit was going to take care of DOMA. But I think that there is a reason that they keep filing in states that recognize gay marriage. They are buying into the "states rights" BS. The fact is that we need to fight for the right to live anywhere and still be recognized as a family.
