3. I hear that you can get some great deals
buying a house in Darfur. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

I got to this. So much hatred no matter where you go. Even here.

8. you have only had 4 responses
and... I'm sorry... but you kind of have to expect that with such a post. You really didn't give any context for your complaint. If you had offered DUers some specifics... I'm sure the conversation would have been more productive. You're obviously frustrated with something and we can all understand that. but to completely write off the Nation and dismiss everything good about it without offering any specifics as to why you feel so frustrated almost invites defensive and dismissive remarks.

Whatever your situation, I truly hope for you that it gets better and you can come to a place where you don't feel so totally frustrated as you seem to do today.

Peace & Love.

10. Well said.

I admit that your response reflects my thoughts more accurately and is a more productive than my reply. It would help if the OP mentioned some specifics. For all we know the OP is referring to the lack of BBQ flavor chewing gum.

12. Okay, am having a really bad week and day. Trying to get to this
rally and feeling like I have no support even from friends. My family never accepted me and never will. I grew up with hate. I would like something better for my kids. They give everybody a chance and accept all people, black, gay. aliens, as long as they are nice. I hate that we are where we are. It's hard to be a single mom with three little ones. I haven't even gotten my benefits and it's never taken this long before so I am just sure it is either because I am gay or because I activist against child beating principals, proably both but I absolutely KNOW that they are messing with me here. Ok let's see I need a job but I can't work because of the school. Now I'm faced with moving again. Tonight I was working on collecting teacher child abuse news stories that are recent for a booklet we are trying to put together and that was depressing. Especially, because 99% of the stories don't get out. I've been working all day sending out another round of emails to representatives and my unresponsive media list. It just gets old and no one really seems to care. I'm tired. I'm kind of hungry and I'm out of smokes.

Those are the specifics.

How's that for a whine?

20. Just a thought........
I know being an activist is hard work, especially when you are trying to get people to come together for rallies and such. Trust me I know. I'm trying to put a group together to create TV ads against Republicans. It's a bitch. Have you thought about expanding your activism to child abuse in general? You may get more of a response.
P.S. Don't expect media or Representatives to respond to you. As long as you're the only voice they hear then they won't give a shit. Start making fliers and posting them around your city, create youtube videos and find different places to post them, create a website and just promote the fuck out of it on different forums.
And, finally, I totally feel for you. When I'm out of smokes I get crabby too. Try rolling your own. You get more smokes for your buck.

21. All good ideas, all things we have done, this rally will have camera
crews ready to roll. We have full page ads running this week in Austin, Texas. We will get there by Monday I hope to help hand out more fliers. We are leaving in the morning on foot and will be posting video's to youtube along the way through the iphone. We expect to get plenty of rides. You have to do what you have to do. Should be quite the adventure, I will post a youtube of whatever vehicle we get in immediately so should anything happen to us they can easily find out who did it. Look for that on my blog tomorrow which I can update through the phone or by tethering to my laptop. I have asked every person I know for support with no response. It's a very good tool for finding out who your friends are that's for sure. Thanks for your kind response. My tolerance for anyone who can utter "don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out" is zero. All I can think is maybe they got spanked one too many times in childhood and now they are so confused they actually get off on it. I wish people like that would all move to North Korea, but then the country probably wouldn't have enough population left to keep functioning on even the most basic level.

As for smokes, I can't even afford to roll them. Looks like I will finally have to quit. I feel sorry for anyone who gets in my way tomorrow if that happens but maybe it's time and it will certainly make my children happy. They hate it and I agree with them. It's a filthy habit.

9. Not hateful
Just tired of hearing people whine and making statements of which they have no intent of carrying through.

15. How do you hear through the internet?
And how do you 'get tired' of something that you have to come find and then stick with? DU threads are not forced upon you, and they do in fact lack audio, so you hear nothing, you read, by choice, then comment by choice.
Darfur? A mean comment toward the OP and also toward the people of Darfur, if you ask me. Let's co-opt a tragedy to make snark out of the dead.
And just so you know, many people do move to other countries from the US, I know a few who have gone in the last few years. So intent is not a thing you can presume about anyone. But you claim the psychic ability to discern intent and know the future, as well as the magical power of 'hearing' typed words.

17. Just FYI: most words do have more than one meaning
intransitive verb

2a : to gain information : learn
b : to receive communication <haven't heard from her lately>
3: to entertain the idea —used in the negative <wouldn't hear of it>

11. Hi ya.
Is that really what you want to do? It's an answer, but is it the answer?

We are born when and where we are, it's not like we had any control over such matters. How we choose to live is on us as individuals and without ethical standards to act as a rudder we are bound to braving rough waters.

Remember the bumper sticker that tells us if you're not outraged you're not paying attention. Use the energy of that rage to do more than take on nay sayers in a place like this. There are lots of endeavors to make a difference, you just got to know what your looking for and have an inkling of where to find it. There is always a point.

If you think you're still inclined to romp, you might consider leaving the nation without ever leaving American soil? Don't know if it's an option you can exercise, but it strikes me as a step not back, but strategically taken.

Good luck, be well and please stay to help fight the good fight, the faith-in-facism crowd is a whipped up swarm of drones who want us to forget who we're supposed to be.

j.

13. That was perfect...you are an angel and by the way...how did you know I was native american...
from my grandmother. I was adopted by one parent and you just reminded me that this month the birth certificate I need to prove will be public record. Even with my adoption papers I was not allowed access to my family records without a court order. Thank you, I just got an idea that could come in very handy.

14. Welcome to to DU.
I took note of the day you joined here and if you look in my journals, you'll find something of a nation's eulogy written that week. The Citizen's United decision amounted to a decloaking for me. There is much that is amiss with our existential infrastructure as we learn to end the age of means over merit, should we see that as the battle that needs addressing, which doesn't seem to be exactly on the front burner.

In no way do I see myself as angelic, as much as I am tempted to appreciate the sentiment. I try to be what I see as needed at the time, in your case, it came with ease and some luck as I happened upon that info not a week ago while peering into some peripheral incident. Always the sidelined gem that can be found if one takes the time and lets the eye wander.

Stay fixed on the well woven work of head, heart and hand, it'll be hard to go wrong!

:hi:

22. Thanks for the great idea. I've contacted the Republic
and requested asylum for my family. I will let you know when they respond and what they say. I consider everything as necessary and following a reference point that is not always within in my vision at the time. If I hadn't become so discouraged and in such a rotten mood and posted my orginal message. I might never have thought of this. How do you know something was supposed to happen? That's easy if it happened it was supposed to. Peace...

24.  I tried to move there about 6 years
ago thinking that the country should bear some of the burden for the missing Canadian father but they wouldn't let us in. Now we would need passports. I do think it's a better country than this one though, more humane, but then I guess I could say that about a lot of other countries.
