Three men appeared in court Friday to face charges of stirring up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation after handing out leaflets calling for the execution of gays outside a UK mosque.
Ihjaz Alie, 41, Mehboob Hussain, 44, and Umer Javed, 37, were charged Thursday night and appeared in court Friday to face charges of distributing threatening written material, according to The Southern Reporter.
Another two men, Another two men, Razwan Javed, 30, and Kabir Ahmed, 27, were charged in December for handing out the same leaflet, titled “The Death Penalty,” outside a mosque in Derby.
Crown Prosecution Service lawyer Sue Hemming said the leaflet was distributed outside the Jamia Mosque in Derby in July 2010. The leaflet was also distributed in mailboxes.
