Fox news ran a 5 minute story last night on "pray the gay away"

...pretty much praising Exodus International's efforts to turn gay men and women straight. They did give a few moments for two contrary opinions from two people from a United Church, including mentioning that the APA and a bunch of other medical associations weren't in favour of reparative therapy, but returned to Exodus to close the segment.

They said there was "controversy" but never actually addressed it, ignoring such interesting issues as the co-founder running off with his male lover.

This was off a Spokane station. Is something going on there?

6. Dr. Drew did an expose on these camps on one of his shows.

This guy is a world-renowned rehab doctor and he basically concluded that you can't force someone to supress their most inner-feelings and expect them to function normally. It doesn't work that way. It's pretty bogus the way those camps work.

7. I had a coworker announce at lunch that her minister had successfully 'cured'

a gay man in their congregation, through prayer. She was very pleased and proud about this story. Everyone around the table was stunned silent. I don't know if anyone there was gay, but all were educated professionals. There was a long, awkward silence. She ate lunch in her classroom from then on.

10. Wouldn't Expect Anything Else

Sadly I wouldn't have expected any less from Fox, I actually would have been flabbergasted had they not.

I still remember the day when Rachel Maddow took on Richard Cohen, he did all he could to distance himself from the Uganda anti-gay legislation, but had no problem maintaining his stance on his ex-gay therapy mantra.

As you said, it's sad that these people evade the reality of "ex-gay" therapy. There are numerous accounts of people who either tried it and/or were shipped off to these places by their parents to "cure" who they are only to find it doesn't work and in some cases can result in devastating consequences on the lives of these individuals.
