*snip*
"Gov. Sam Brownback of Kansas had planned to come, and Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana said he might swing by. But gay rights groups in Kansas made quite a stir by pointing out that the American Family Association (AFA), one of the groups organizing the event, is vociferously anti-gay. The AFA has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Suddenly Brownback says he plans to be on vacation, and Jindal isn’t talking about the event any more."

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2011/08/02/gov-brownback-comes-under-fire-for-plans-to-attend-gov-perrys-prayer-day/I don't know about the "groups" comment in the first article but I do know that KEC has been raking him over the coals for a solid month and getting press coverage. He is probably going anyway but he has been forced now not to brag about it anymore and do it quietly under cover.
Personally I think for us here in Kansas this is a huge accomplishment and I am proud to be one of those people fighting this creep. Rally Saturday for our first amendment rights. I wonder how many troopers per person they have scheduled for this one?
