1. In a few of these cities, I am surprised that there are openly gay
individuals. And in all fairness, since Bellaire is completely surrounded by Houston, it really has an identity problem.

I remember when I moved to Houston, I was in shock at the large gay community there. Large and very active. It just did not seem to fit my idea of what Texas would be like. I was pleasantly surprised. I now know never to allow stereotypes to cloud my brain.

2. true..and a lot of the cities are dallas and houston suburbs.
I WILL say that my first lesbian encounter was in a very open club in San Angelo when I was in college...yes,even West Texas has an open gay community.
