I have been asked by the admins to post this message to this forum.

Earlier today, I posted a Big Board sticky that many DUers found offensive ... because it was, sadly, quite offensive indeed. Although I am gay and did not intend for it to cause offense, that's obviously no excuse, and I apologize. I hope that you will forgive me and welcome me back into the DU clubhouse.

To have it come at this time and from within I just can't deal with right now. I have just spent the last 45 minutes defending myself as being labeled a sexist because of the thread I made about your sticky. it has finally been resolved & a apology was given to me for the remark.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm tired of apologies, i just wish people would think before posting. Please give me a couple of days to cool off & take a break from DU. Then I will probably feel different.

2. I'm pretty much against all bannings so I'm reccing this.

People often express themselves inartfully and/or undiplomatically in an attempt to impress or persuade.

Hell, I've done it myself. ( But not this bad!) Apologies and explanations go a long way.

I guess I'll defer to the recipient on this one.

over the last couple days. AFAIC, this whole situation raises questions in my mind about the psychology of those who think homosexuality is embarrassing, thus good fodder for humor.

particularly so when the apology is forced it smacks that there is a certain level of enforcement for some and not others.

15. With you on that one - some days it feels like I'm simply checking in to see

what the daily outrage is.

Today we've got one post complaining about someone having internalized homophobia being an issue and another post complaining that we shouldn't assume that some politician speaking anti-gay shit all the time, that saying that they're probably folks who have never dealt with their own homosexual feelings is somehow insulting to the entire GLBT community.
