Matt Bomer Joins Black's Prop. 8 Play

Matt Bomer is the latest actor added to the star-studded cast of Dustin Lance Black's Proposition 8-themed play 8, according to Michael Musto in The Village Voice.

Bomer, who also stars in the series White Collar, will play Jeff Zarillo, real-life husband of Paul Katami, who'll be portrayed by the previously announced Cheyenne Jackson. The couple were central litigants in the Prop. 8 trial.

Also added to the cast, which already includes Morgan Freeman, Rob Reiner, and Marisa Tomei, are Broadway vets John Lithgow and Bradley Whitford. The Normal Heart's Joe Mantello will direct the one-night-only staged reading in New York September 19.

But the rest of the cast sounds boffo. I hope this play travels well and succeeds in raising the conscience of the people, as The Laramie Project did.
