Brad Pitt Will Produce Normal Heart Film

The long-gestating film adaptation of The Normal Heart, Larry Kramer’s blistering autobiographical play about the early years of the AIDS epidemic, is now closer to becoming a reality with superstar producer Brad Pitt on board, reports Variety.

Pitt’s Plan B production company will coproduce the film with Ryan Murphy, who will also direct.

I am delighted that this film is being made. The play, when it was new, was the most important piece of performed art I had or have seen. Thank God for Larry Kramer.

I wish they would use the cast that just did it on Broadway. What an amazing group of actors! I heard it was really done well.

A compelling story well worth telling.

A personal aside, Kramer, among others, was an inspiration for myself and a number of friends with AIDS to do the first public "die ins" and AIDS related art projects in our town.
