Minnesota Votes NO at the Fair! (Anti-Marriage Equality Amendment Straw Poll)

The Minnesota House of Representatives released the results from the State Fair straw poll today, and by a margin of 66.5% to 29.8% (with 3.7% undecided), Minnesotans voted NO on changing the constitution to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman! (PDF of results here: http://minnesotansunitedforallfamilies.createsend1.com/t/r/l/tthuwy/mikjliyih/i/)

We have a long way to go until November 2012, but it’s clear that when we rally our friends and family to go vote, we can win! Thank you all for taking the time to cast your ballots, and encouraging others to do the same. We couldn’t have done this without your hard work!

3. At this point, much of the Northeast portion of this country...
...allows either full equal marriage or at least
civil unions and, strangely enough, not only have
there not been any plagues of locusts, rivers running
red with blood, or even cats and dogs living together,
but it's turning out that equal marriage is a perfectly
ordinary thing, quite like classical marriage in every
way.

After a while, all the bloviating in the world by the
religious fanatics won't be able to overcome the fact
that *EVERYONE* will eventually know a gay or lesbian
married couple and *EVERYONE* will realize the ordinar-
iness of the situation; certainly nothing worth changing
a constitution over, whether state or Federal.

And at that point, our side has won.

4. But god did send the earthquake and then a hurricane they will say. Civil rights
are civil rights for all, and equality for all.

For a nation that brags about civil rights and equal rights it's always been pretty simple to me.

Yep, "equal marriage is a perfectly ordinary thing, quite like classical marriage in every way." I've never understood those that want to stick their noses into peoples' personal lives over marriage.

6. The earthquake hit Virginia and really, Irene was fairly "glancing" blow here.
The biggest problem Irene posed in New England was the
flooding in Vermont; it did a lot more damage in the
"non-equal marriage" regions.
