This started out as me wanting to write a little poem, then I realized that I didn't care about making it stylistically sound, and it turned into just a stream-of-consciousness piece.

A beautiful soul, taken from us far too young.
You infused everyone who knew you with so much joy.
You weren't a gay 14 year old boy, you were simply a 14 year old boy.
They tried to define you as less than human because you chose to express your feelings.
They tried to make you feel worthless while you spent your time telling others
it gets better.
It didn't get better for you. The bullying accelerated and eventually it became too much for you.
Your perseverance in the face of intolerable adversity at such a young and impressionable age will not be forgotten.
Your reward is not on this Earth, young fellow. I know that you are in heaven right now.
God doesn't make mistakes, and he certainly broke the mold with you. A fourteen year old with the wisdom of someone ten years older but with the innocence of a child.
of a child. You couldn't understand why people would bully you for expressing yourself according to the way God created you.
Those "Christians" who pervert Christ's message of love and understanding with their anti-gay hate speech will not be looked upon kindly by historians.
These "Christians" pervert Christianity and use it as a cudgel to attack anyone who refuses to accept their warped view of what the Bible actually says.
But I digress. I planted a banana tree in my yard yesterday in your honor, Jamie. God bless you.
