Mid-South Pride, organizer of the region’s annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Festival and Parade, has announced the event schedule for the 2011 Mid-South Pride Festival and Parade, October 15, in downtown Memphis.

The festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Robert Church Park. The parade will start at 2 p.m. and will roll from the FedEx Forum on Third Street. The route will take the parade past the Westin Memphis Beale Street on George W. Lee Street, and then through the Beale Street Entertainment District from Second to Fourth Street. Admission to the festival grounds and parade is free.

The festival will also feature a Children’s Area, including face painting and arts and crafts, a balloon jump, Safe Kids Halloween gift bags, and at 10 a.m., an appearance by McGruff the Crime Dog.

In addition, the festival will host multiple stages of entertainment from the likes of the Cast of Playhouse on the Square Production of Avenue Q, R&B artist Porcelan Chalet, folk singer Summer Osborne, rocker Carol Plunk and Blues artist Kenneth Jackson.
