A Cambridge councillor has been named as one of the most influential people in the UK fighting for gay rights.

Petersfield’s Sarah Brown was listed 28th in the Independent on Sunday’s top 100 “pink list”.

Cllr Brown is on the executive of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) + Liberal Democrats organisation and chairs its transgender working group.

She said: “I’m delighted that my work has been recognised in this way. It raises the profile of transgender people and promotes greater understanding.
