http://www.theroot.com/buzz/shorter-university-swear-youre-not-gay-or-youre-fired?wpisrc=root_more_newsFresh from our "Still minding other people's business" file, David Taintor of Talking Points Muckraker is reporting that Shorter University, a Christian college in Georgia, is asking all employees to sign a "personal lifestyle statement" declaring their heterosexuality.
Taintor reports:
Shorter University instituted the pledge in late October, the GA Voice reports, and it reads, in part, "I reject as acceptable all sexual activity not in agreement with the Bible, including, but not limited to, premarital sex, adultery and homosexuality." According to university president Don Dowless, the pledge doesn't intend to offend. "Our goal is to declare who we are" he told WSB-TV. "But if you don't sign it, your job may be at risk."
Stop the presses -- your job may be at risk? We wonder if your job will be at risk if you are found to be involved in drugs, pedophilia or other criminal activity. With all that's going on in the world, you would think that these zealots could find something else to do other than managing other people's lives and threatening their livelihood in the process, which, by the way, is not very Christ-like. In fact, it sounds criminal.
