Glee' teen sex slammed by protest groups

Two organizations have come out swinging against teen sex on tonight’s Glee.
The watchdogs at the Parents Television Council slammed the show for an episode that depicts two young couples — one straight, one gay — having sex for the first time. The organization says its objection has nothing to do with the gender of the characters, just their ages.







Is anyone buying this? Are we really supposed to believe that a show which depicts a gay couple having all the same problems as a straight couple, and present them as equals, is not coming under attack for equating same sex couples with "traditional" couples?



I think the way the show was done was brilliant. It didn't focus just on one couple or the other. It ran through problems with 3 couples (if you include the coach) and presented them all as valid. I knew when I was watching it that there would be a backlash but I didn't expect them to hide behind the age issue. All the actors are in their 20s and they are portraying characters which are all of consenting age.


Maybe it is just me but I think the least they could have done is come up with a better excuse or to have just owned up to what they are really objecting to.

There was no blatant sex acts like I've seen on other shows. It was very chaste and respectful to all involved, in my opinion.

Did you see the episode? I enjoyed it quite a bit. It helps that I love, love, love "West Side Story," which is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. The only musical I love more is "Evita."

The fundies just love to slam this show up one side and down the other.

Teenagers lose their virginity. Let them do it safely, and with someone they care for. I believe that is what happened in this episode.

Don't these people own working remotes, or televisions with off switches? Most people use those things when they don't care for a show. And if the ratings drop, then the show is canceled.

I wonder if the fundies are all ushered into a special section of appliance stores, where they are sold televisions that can't turn off programs they find offensive, or remotes that are rendered inoperable when they try to change the channel to something more to their liking. Is there a secret conspiracy to make them watch this type of TV, against their wills?

And don't they know that there are all sorts of "Christian" channels? I put Christian in quotes, because I am a Christian, and that is not my kind of Christianity.

teenagers will be teenagers and I, too would rather that they lose their virginity with someone they care for, in a safe manner. I didn't lose mine til I was nearly 20 but if I had been born, say 15 or so years ago, it might be another story. I am so sick of the right wing/religious wrong desire for censorship. Hey, bigots! Your TV has an on-off switch and a channel change them. Learn to use them. Love them. Leave us alone!

I don't see a nationwide froth every time opposite-genital teens kiss, fondle or get between the sheets on a TV show (which is often). It is entirely about the gender of the characters.

8. That was one of the best episodes of Glee ever, IMO.

The show was very respectful of it I thought. I think the fundies are just pissed that the only couple not cheating and fooling around on each other is the gay one.
