Uganda man jailed for killing gay activist David Kato
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-15685648

A Ugandan man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for murdering the country's leading gay rights activist, David Kato, in January.

Sidney Nsubunga Enoch admitted in court that he had bludgeoned Mr Kato to death with a hammer, but alleged he had been provoked by sexual advances from him.

The murder sparked outrage, with Western governments calling on Uganda to legalise homosexuality.

Most Ugandans believe homosexuality is un-Christian and un-African.

1. It is possible that the "pass" was nothing more than Enoch's own lack of awareness of his
own reactions to homosexuality, projected upon Kato.

2. What a strange thing for Uganda to do, considering
that they're considering instituting the death penalty for being gay.

3. Enoch 'did' as everyone around him was telling him to do.
Enoch will be sacrificed to the strong strain of hate residing in the culture.

4. It'd be interesting to know the "missionary" work that has gone on around Enoch.

If he's poor and inexperienced/un-sophisticated in his thinking, it is likely that his will to please powerful persons made him vulnerable.

6. It's looking more and more like the whole of Africa
with the exception of South Africa, is a cesspool of anti-GLBT animus. Scott Lively has a lot to do with that. If homosexuals were 1/10th as violent as he says we are, he'd have a bullet in his forehead. But we're not, and he's still spewing bile.

7. Rick Warren has a lot to do with it too.
The hate is in his BLOOD. He's invited so many African leaders to his church to discuss hating gays it isn't funny - he even met with UGANDAN leaders in Saddleback to discuss how to get the gay genocide bill in Uganda passed. It's fucking sickening.
