I read posts in GLBT quite often, especially when a thread title draws my attention. In all the time that I've been on DU, I've never seen people post the things you describe. I'm not saying it doesn't happen - only that I haven't seen it. In fact, I'd characterize GLBT as one of the most respectful forums where acceptance and equality are concerned.

Discussion is fine, but we're not open to "discussion" about whether or not we deserve the same rights others have and take for granted, or if our lives are "normal". We don't want lectures from privileged heteros about how our tactics for achieving the rights they're denying us are wrong. We don't want to hear how we're going to cost the Dems an election by asking for what is rightfully ours. We don't want to hear how we should wait until all the wars are over, everyone has a job, every hungry child is fed, etc, before we pester people about our Petty Pet Issues.
