1. blind patriotism
before you say anything, I am a veteran.
blind patriotism is not different than putting your head in the sand and believing the 'hype' of 'we're number 1!' in the face of staggering evidence to the contrary. i am ashamed when I think of how our health is tied to our job. I would call it health care but in our country, it's health 'insurance'. In any insurance system, the numbers are stacked much more against the policy holders than the insurance provider. But it's not just health care, it's so many things across the board. For a country that is predominately Christian, I can't imaging Jesus seeing anything left of his message in how we live and treat each other. And yet we are not supposed to question things or have feelings that come from logical examination of evidence? Spend some time reading newspapers from other countries or talking to citizens of other countries and see how THEY see America. It makes me cringe.
I love my country and want to see things fixed in it-see this madness be gone but believe me, if I had the means to legally be in another country at this moment, I'd do it.

3. Welcome to DU Gallifrey
I could be totally wrong here but I think you misinterpreted the meaning. If you notice this is in the GLBT forum.

4. apologies
I had noticed that but also being new to posting, I clicked on the comment to try and see if it was in response to an existing comment/thread. Not finding that (probably due to my inexperience), I believed your comment to be just thrown out there without context to GLBT forum, as I've seen similar statements on other website forums, etc.

Please accept my apologies for directing that in a response to you. I do indeed feel the way my post implies, but in terms of the US flag. As you may have inferred from my post, I stand in support of the GLBT community - it was part of the 'so much more across the board' part of my comment.

Anyway, thanks for the polite clarification, and thanks to all 'welcome!' well-wishers :)

5. No apologies needed.
I like to think we don't judge here unless slapped in the face with something.

I post quotes as inspiration which unfortunately in these times can be lacking. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don't.

But feel free to stick around in join our discussions.
