I'm asking you to take the time to read this. It's worth the effort, honest.

2. Good luck. I posted it in R&T
Edited on Mon Nov-21-11 07:04 PM by Warpy
and maybe 3 people read it. The good Christians didn't like the title so they hit unrec and moved on.

Edit: I see they're doing the same thing here.

12. Yes, I know...
I've been taken to task for the title despite the fact that I posted it exactly as written. Sometimes you just cannot win.

3. A good piece, but I'm uncomfortable with him lumping people who are gay
Edited on Mon Nov-21-11 07:29 PM by pnwmom
or are homeless or have disabilities with people who have criminal records or addiction problems. Yes, ideally we would be open to ALL people, no matter what. Still . . . . he's lumping people together in a way that doesn't make sense to me.

Also, I think things are worse for gay people -- and their families -- in certain places than others. Utah, where he lives, is one of the worst places. On the other hand, my father and his partner in the NYC area had no problem finding a Catholic church to welcome their family (and that was 20 years ago). And I'm sure Seattle is a lot more accepting than Utah, too.

6. I read it, I was the 11th rec.
I'm sorry his friend has had the problems he's had. I don't understand how people can be that way.
I'm not going to say I've known a lot of gay folks in my life, but I've known a few.
Always got along with them personally, I've never understood the anger issues.
All I can say is the one person needs to move, easier said than done, I know.
I'm Christian too. Christ said, "judge not lest ye be judged".
So I can't judge a gay person with hatred or self righteousness, unless I want judged or don't care if I'm judged the same way.
Any Christian who does so, is not following Christ's Teachings.

7. Too hard to read for me - should be in the religion forum, IMHO
Edited on Mon Nov-21-11 09:59 PM by Cronus Protagonist
Almost every sentence is a paragraph and I have no interest in Mormons having revelations. I gave up halfway through page 2.

13. It was. The religious people rejected it because of the title.

8. In the early 90's I was in a play ((A tribute to a memory of you (info can be found on my website)).
The moral of the story, God doesn't care who you love, only that you love.

"Put your hand here in my hand, and then we are not alone.
Hand in hand, we rise to meet the sun.
We are all together reaching out to help a friend.
We can do as two, what we can’t do as one.
I do not stoop to meet you,
but with love I greet you.
Hold my hand, you’ve found a friend."

Recommended.
