Asking about someone's status ("what are you really?) or intentionally misusing pronouns is declassé and downright rude. It makes one wonder what sort of (shocking lack of) upbringing some people had.

6. A common one is when mean, ignorant bigots in commercial

establishments, etc. use pronouns to deliberately mock transfolk.

For example, a salesperson, grinning mockingly at a FtM man, "Can I help you, "MA'AM"?

Or in the case of a MtF woman, "Did you find everything you were looking for, "SIR"?
