Former Dancing With The Stars competitor Chaz Bono surprised his fiancée Jennifer Elia with an engagement ring on her birthday. While the transgender TV star proposed to Elia in 2009, they had since put their plans for marriage on a hiatus, explaining, “We’ve been engaged for two years and we’ve had to put things on hold.”

The diamond sparkler was presented to Elia while the couple were vacationing in Seattle, Wash.

“I wanted to pick a special place to give her birthday present,” said Bono.

“Wow, it’s gorgeous – thank you so much. It’s stunning. It’s huge. What he did was romantic. Who would have thought Seattle would be so special?” said Elia.

Glad to know that Seattle made them feel so welcome!

Earlier this year he was in town to speak at the Gender Odyssey conference-maybe that's when our town made such a positive impression. We did have around 400,000 spectators at the Pride Parade this year (which I was in for the first time! plus, more cool, the aide who helped save Gabby Gifford after she was shot).
