I followed a link to rightwing watch, http://www.rightwingwatch.org/category/groups/manhattan-declaration and I noticed the name Dr. Timothy George. I thought it couldn't be the same person as he wasn't crazy when I knew him, so i went looking aroound.

I came across a link to an old Walker County messenger http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=368&dat=19890113&id=9rgmAAAAIBAJ&sjid=6EQDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5677,376209 and there it is, former pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Gulp, the man has gone crazy. :wow:

1. I'm not the only person who was shocked...

I called my Mom and she remembered Timothy George, who used to be invited in for revivals and temping for regular pastors... before he received a regular gig.

Anyhoo, Mom had lots to say, the gems are paraphrased, 'I'm shocked to learn that he has any part of that group, he certainly has veered away from his christian preaching when he was a young man.' 'That's the sort of stuff that leads to violence, not only against women, but against gays.'

Then she went on to tell me about the young man in Atlanta, who wss beaten when he exited a grocery store. Way to go Mom, as I was impressed that she knew about the crime. I heard about it this morning on a OutQ radio report around 9 a.m. I doubt that she heard about it from the same source that I did, but she knew.

Oh, for anyone who doesn't know, Mom is on the plus side of 75, a recovering republican, as southern republican is basically crazy, and she has decided to not hang with crazy anymore. She was shocked and disgusted, and that's a good thing.
