Here in Illinois a town near me, Crystal Lake voted last night not to allow their lake to be used in the rowing competition for the Gay Games coming up. The argument seemed to be that even though they got a positve response they got a few negative ones threatening violence so they didn't want to have them there. I guess if the klan threatened to kill African-Americans, they wouldn't let them live there. Maybe they don't.
The story was in the Chicago Trib this morning.
Anyway the hatred of gays in even blue Illinois is so irrational that I don't think any sane message can get through. It will take at least another generation of education to break the wall down completely. Arab countries have no lock on religious bigotry.

10. the city council is going to re-vote on the issue

the vote was 2-2 and the 5th member of council was on vacation

he's asking for a re-vote on the issue and it looks like he's going to get it

it will most likely pass

11. Saw that, and I'm glad - but I wonder if it wouldn't be better to move the

competition to another place in light of what happened. Let some other area that is more welcoming reap the benefits of the tourist trade that the first place didn't want. Why should they be rewarded with our dollars?
