Iraqi Shia Leader Calls Fatwa Against Gays
http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/03/031506iraq.htm

As Iraq sinks closer and closer to all-out civil war the country's most influential Shiite cleric, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, is reportedly calling for death to gays and Sunni Moslems.

Sunni Arabs, who have run Iraq since its creation nearly 90 years ago, total barely a fifth of the population are involved in bitter armed battled with Shiites.

Sistani, a native Iraqi who was trained in Iran, has emerged as one of the country's leading figures in the push by Shiites for an Islamic republic.

His heavily armed Badr Corps was trained by the Iranian military in the 1980s.

2. Is it too much to hope...
...for Mr. al-Sistani to stumble upon a car bomb? Or be captured by insurgents and raped repeatedly, then beheaded? Would that be inhumane... or would that be justice for the hundreds of gay people about to die as a result of his actions?

3. Mr. al-Sistani is the _moderate_ Shi'ite leader. We've been counting on
him to keep things under control. We're worried that other factions, more interested in violent resistance to US occupation, will increase in power and influence over his faction.

When an opposition leader in a country that we have occupied calls for the deaths of all Jews, or WORSE, all christians :sarcasm:, I'm sure you might get off your asses and do something about it. Not even Saddam Hussein was out killing off queers for shits and giggles, and now you have this? Mission Accomplished, not.

You have gay U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq "defending our freedoms". I'm sure there is no need to elaborate. I would go so far as to personally issue a fatwa on al Sistani and his Badr Corps girlie men. They'd best stay in Iraq where they belong, far far away from certain American service members.
