http://www.365gay.com/Newscon06/03/032206sfAdopt.htmSan Francisco's Board of Supervisors has issued a strong rebuke of the Catholic Church over threats by the archdiocese to bar gays and lesbians from adopting while an LGBT legal group says it may sue the Church if it goes ahead with its threat.
The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday on a nonbinding resolution that calls on the archdiocese to ignore a Vatican directive on gay adoptions.
"It is an insult to all San Franciscans when a foreign country, like the Vatican, meddles with and attempts to negatively influence this great city's existing and established customs and traditions, such as the right of same-sex couples to adopt and care for children in need,'' the resolution states.
It specifically attacks Cardinal-designate William Levada, San Francisco's former Archbishop and now the number two man at the Vatican.
