Is this the right room for a coming-out party?
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 05:33 PM by Taxloss
As long as I've been sexual, I've been bisexual. I am MTF TV also. None of this is news to me; also I'm in a very long-term loving relationship with a wonderful woman, that I hope will last the distance. But in the past I have had wondeful relationships with men. None of this is news to her, either.

It was, however, news to my parents. I came out to them two weeks ago. Finally I told them what I have kept secret from everyone, about past boyfriends and so on. They were great, really supportive.

And now I'm on a sort of honesty gig. Now my parents know, I don't care who knows. It's the most enormous relief.

Hello everyone!

On edit: Jeez, I wish these threads weren't on the front page!

10. Heh, I hardly did anything, I just blurted.
Then there was some crying and a hug from Mum. I'm tearing up a bit now. I felt sorry they never met, or even heard of, some lovely boyfriends I had. And I'm just so pleased that after so long I've been able to kill this lie, that I've been given permission to be me.

5. I don't think you need to worry about it being on the front page.
DU seems like the kind of place where it's OK with everyone for anyone to be whatever they are.

Strikes me as such, anyway.

But then I suppose declaring your sexuaity on an open bulleting board is always going to be a risky business, and I have nothing to fear.

19. They are too busy calling me "Fister"!
Which is funny, and here is why; They cannot read for comprehension over there!

One of my S&M kinks is vaginal fisting. That is, the very careful and slow insertion of the whole hand into a woman's vagina for her sexual pleasure.

They all think I am into anal fisting, which is the insertion of the hand and often much of the forearm into the colon and often as far as the transverse colon.

They think this because I posted on usenet that shoe searches were useless because anal fisting can reach the transverse colon, and so a VERY large bomb could be put into a person's body non-surgically it would not be detectable at an airport screening. I mentioned that I had even seen somebody do a fisting that deep (at a demonstration.)

So they added 1+1 and got 7.

Typical.

But I don't mind, really, as kinky people have come out of the closet to say hello as a direct result!

Indeed, it's hard to ignore. Tried it, did NOT like it.

I'm more a bondage and spanking kinda gal. Which reminds me - where the heck is Of J Temp? Haven't seen her in ages.

I suppose the attentive watchers and people who don't like me on DU will love this thread. I don't care. My parents know,! You can'r do a damn thing! Muahahahahahaha! Wow, that felt good.

35. Thanks! TVism is still an area that faces massive prejudice.
Far, far worse than the LGB community as a whole, I think. A girl could walk down the street wearing a pair of my male trousers and onje of my male shirts without attracting a second glance. If I tried to do that in her skirt and blouse, I'd run the serious risk of abuse or even a beating. And I live in one of the most TV-tolerant cities on Earth. What's wrong with this picture?

40. In high school we had a kid of Scottish descent
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 09:50 PM by salvorhardin
Who decided one day to start wearing kilts to school. You wouldn't believe the uproar. Finally the principal (who was a royal jerk anyway) forced the kid to stop wearing kilts or face expulsion. I think he was suspended beforehand IIRC. Not long after that the school dress code was passed requiring many things, but boys to wear trousers or jeans among them. How ridiculous! There wasn't even a hint of transvestism in this kid and this was was a traditional male dress of his family. And yet even this was too much. Honestly I think many people feel threatened by blurred sexual roles (even though they'll happily shell out big bucks to see their favorite heavy metal rocker wearing fishnets, eye shadow and lipstick). Gawd, thankfully college cured me of most of my learned homophobia (is fear of transvestism properly called homophobia?) and life got rid of the rest.

45. Well, that is, until it comes to the donation envelope, you mean.
sorry, I'm a little bitter at the moment.

I know a lot of Bi/Queer folks who work (paid jobs) in GLBT organizations. Unfortunately, what pays the bills are the issues that sell better than others... of course, the campaign du jour is field tested/sexed up to sell. But a lot of the time, I feel left out. And I feel badly that I do feel left out, 'cause at least I can claim heterosexual privledge (I'm married to a man) and just do the "checkbook activism thing." But that's not me. I used to eat, sleep, breathe queer issues back in college when I co-chaired the undergrad LGBT organization-- and there was no support from the school... the whole Gay community had to rely on our board, and the 2 co-chairs; a gay man and a bisexual woman. I usually didn't even bother correcting people when they called me a lesbian...perhaps it was internalized biphobia, or perhaps I was noticing something real within the community.

Perhaps it's not just in the political discussions that exclusion happens? Maybe I've said too much, and will regret this in the morning.

The More Loving One

Looking up at the stars, I know quite well
That, for all they care, I can go to hell,
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast.

How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.

Admirer as I think I am
Of stars that do not give a damn,
I cannot, now I see them, say
I missed one terribly all day.

Were all stars to disappear or die,
I should learn to look at an empty sky
And feel its total dark sublime,
Though this might take me a little time.
