Israel To Allow Gay Co-Adoption

Israel's Supreme Court ruled Monday that a lesbian couple can adopt each other's children - a landmark ruling that will affect other same-sex couples with children.

The women, who were not named in the judgment, have had three children through in vitro fertilization over the past 15 years.

In 1997 they were turned down by a Family Court when they sought the right to adopt each other's children. But the court did grant them guardianship of each other's children. The decision allows each parent to make decisions involving the children of the other.
