Protect Marriage Illinois said late Thursday that it would not seek a full court review of last week's decision by a panel of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals that the state decision not to place the referendum before voters was a violation of the group's constitutional rights.
Protect Marriage Illinois, a group made of of several anti-gay religious organizations, began collecting signatures after the legislature last year rejected an attempt to pass an amendment to ban same-sex marriage. (story)
The referendum calls upon the Illinois lawmakers to enact a constitutional amendment to ban all unions of same-sex couples including marriage, civil unions and domestic partnerships.
