7. Nah. I agree w/ you that this website is an odd one . . .

Supposedly, it has dedicated itself to "watching" websites and entities who espouse ex-gay as possible, as if sexuality is a choice instead of an innate unchangeable issue. It seems also to say that ex-gay is okay and possible. However, the website then comes down saying that it's okay to legally discriminate against exgays but it believes that such legal discriminate is "unethical." What a lot of garbage wrapped in pretty clothing is THAT!

Wow. Now, THAT gives me a headache!!

Constitutional law has historically granted non-discrimination status to groups of persons who have immutable (unchangeable) characteristics that have been bashed due to thier immutable characteristics. For example, being black is an immutable characteristic. It is unchangeable. Therefore the constitution grants protection to that class of ppl. Similar is being of some ethnic background, etc. So if homosexuality is immutable (unchangeable) and as a result of that immutable characteristic, homosexuals are bashed (discriminated against), then homosexuals should be granted full and equal protection u/ constitutional law. PERIOD.

Uuummm, in short, this website is twisted. And it sounds like libertarian gobbledeegook.

Among the foremost is religion, which is obviously a choice, but also association. Why some people then think that disallowing other people's choices of belief and twisting the claims that allowing someone else to make their own choices is taking away their choices is enough to make my head spin.

what this is all about . . . other than what I've read on this website, i.e., it's own subjective motives. It sounds as if exgay dot com "reports" its views regarding other sources who espouse "exgay" is a choice not a sexual orientation as well as rightwing religious homophobia and politics. It also sounds like it has libertarian elements to it, e.g. . . .

We believe private individuals, businesses and organizations have a right to discriminate, just as they have a right to commit other wrongs, but we believe the actual choice to discriminate is unethical and worthy of opposition.

After all, there should be no discrimination allowed against gays u/ our federal constitution if sexual orientation is immutable not merely a changeable preference or choice. And there lies the legal rub, and the bag of tricks of libertarianism. So again this website if full of hot air.

8. As a V.P. of the local PFLAG, I am familiar with

exgaywatch.com, and they are advocates for the GLBT community. Dobson, Falwell and the like have created this silly term, 'ex-gay.' Exgaywatch.com generally keeps an eye out on people like Throckmorton and Nicolosi (NARTH), alleged mental health professionals who believe that people can 'come out of homosexuality.' Exgaywatch has been very supportive of "Truth Wins Out," a counter to 'Love Won Out.' 'Love Won Out' is highly dangerous, very destructive 'counseling,' and it attempts to change a person's sexual orientation. Wayne Besen, a great GLBT advocate, runs 'Truth Wins Out;' he makes sure that there is a 'welcoming committee' (sarcasm intended) for any phoneys running the 'Love Won Out' conference (e.g. protestors outside the 'convention').

Will have to go over there and figure out what you saw that was objectionable.

Please, DUers, support Truth Wins Out; and, please visit their website, and hear the very moving stories of those who went through that very destructive 'reparative therapy.' Wayne fights to counter the 'ex-gay' propaganda. Wayne was the one who raced down to the nightclub to photograph John Paulk, after he had hit on Wayne's friend. Wayne was working for the Human Rights Campaign at the time. Wayne came up with the term, 'ex-gay for pay' to describe those 'ex-gay' rightwingers who claim to have changed their sexual orientation ... and who are invariably on the payroll of Dobson or a Dobson-like figure.
