Protestors Fail To Stop Homophobic Musician's Concert

More than 100 people lined the street in front of the Community Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene Thursday night to protest a concert by Jamaican singer Buju Banton.

The singer has been under fire for several years for music that advocates violence against gays. Banton’s number one hit ‘Boom Bye Bye’ urges listeners to shoot gay men in the head, pour acid over them and burn them alive.

Although the song was first recorded years ago and he no longer performs it, it has recently been re-released, and despite calls from gay rights advocates he has refused to distance himself from the lyrics.

Banton has been hit with protests wherever he is scheduled to appear.

Unfortunately there seem to be quite a few religious folk who "have better things to do" than worry about some crazy old lyrics that advocate killing people because you assume they're gay.

They hate gays because they hate what they think of as weakness. The most ironic part is that when they come for gays they have to get their cowardly pack-animal asses together in a rabid group to hurt one person.

Buju Banton, your hating kind are the weak kind. Weak in the knees, and weak in the head.
