Rich young San Franciscans with ties to Roman Catholic School Not Charged in 'Gay Bashing' Yalies
January 13, 2007
Rich young San Franciscans with ties to a prominent Roman Catholic School Not Charged in 'Gay Bashing' of Yalies

It began as a New Year's Eve assault on a Yale choral group, allegedly at the hands of rich young San Franciscans with ties to a prominent city prep school. Now, as police sort out the details, the incident has exploded into a cause celebre, complete with allegations of anti-patriotism, gay-bashing and police screw-ups.

Outraged that the assault occurred after the group sang ``The Star-Spangled Banner,'' conservative pundits are skewering the city as unpatriotic, and a popular Fox News host is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to arrests.

And some gay-rights activists, responding to reports that anti-gay slurs were uttered at the singers, are blogging about the city's perceived intolerance.

2. Somehow, I feel Hannity is ( yet again) missing ....
>>>Aziz and his mother appeared on Fox News Thursday night, during which conservative talk-show host Sean Hannity repeatedly tried to tie the assault to the fact that the group sang a casual rendition of ``The Star-Spangled Banner.'' Hannity made his reward offer to, in his words, prove ``it is OK to sing the anthem in this country and not be attacked.''>>>>

... the point.

Somehow, it seems more complicated than that.

I don't know why I feel that.

I just do.

3. Those thugs should be in jail
but on a side note, I just love how now the Conservatives are up in arms since it was the national anthem involved. Had it just been garden variety gay bashing it would have been OK.

4. If they had just sung "The Whiffenpoof Song"
Sean would have wanted the singers put in Yale for inciting a riot.

7. Well, it speaks highly of a religious education.
Sarcasm off. The parents and leaders of the school that these thugs were associated with should be truly ashamed and should condemn the thug's actions as being contrary to everything the school stands for. Yet such a statement seems to have been drowned out by the homophobic comments of church leaders!
