Katherine Heigl DEFENDS Gay Co-Star against Homophobe actor
I think I am in love!

"I will throw down for that kid. I will beat you up. I will use every ounce of energy I have to take you down if you hurt his feelings!"

Now thats a Friend!

1. Katherine Heigl is gorgeous!
Sounds like she's a pretty cool woman, too.

I knew that there was a good reason why I'm going to marry her...

2. Sounds like Isaiah Washington is on his way out.
No one in the cast likes him, the fans don't like him after his homophobic rant, and his character is turning out to be a real shit so the casual viewers are starting to turn against him. I lay even odds he's off the show by next season.

3. He should have been fired the day after he said it the first time
He outed Knight, though that was probably accidental, but even without that element he used a viscious slur. If Ian McKellan called Denzel Washington the n word on some movie set, he would justifiably be unemployed the next day. Washington should have been fired as well.

9. Maybe Not

He got away with grabbing another castmember's neck and making that statement. No anger management, no suspension, much less firing.

14. What did he say...?
Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 05:48 PM by bliss_eternal
I've successfully steered clear of celebrity news of late (except for the Globes), so I missed this. On edit, just read his lame apology. He said something at the Globes?! Yikes--I was turning back and forth from it, so I must have missed it.

Please tell me, so I can dash off some letters to ABC and anyone else I can think of.:grr:

I'm still pissed that Bravo televised that "thing" for homophobic Will Smith. :eyes:

4. T. R. Knight was on the Ellen show today
and he said that the October incident DID happen. He told the whole story of how hurt he was to be called this vile name. I haven't seen this posted anywhere else--hope it's not a dupe.

5. I wish I had known he would be on that show
Of course this happened, there is no way Knight would have come out after that fiasco had it not happened.

7. thanks for posting that
It must have been a tough interview for Mr. Knight. I don't watch the show so I don't know much about him but I was outraged when the whole incident happened.

13. she is so right. You can tell she's not just talking the talk.

Can using the n word ever be characterized as "just an off-the-cuff remark"???? The very question itself is offensive. It's like asking Heigl if her gay friend should just "lighten up" at being called a faggot. :puke:

NO. He shouldn't, and if he can't, that is NOT HIS PROBLEM.

And I don't like that reporter's demeanor. It's subtle, but can anyone else sense it? She shakes her head "no" as she asks the leading question if Heigl thinks that it was "just an off-the-cuff remark," indicating nonverbally to Heigl (and viewers) that the appropriate answer is "right, it was just an off-the-cuff remark - nobody should make a big deal about it." Kudos to Heigl for standing her ground and not letting herself be pushed around.

On second viewing, maybe she's not quite shaking her head "no" (though it looks like she's about to) but you can tell by her giggling and grin as she makes eye contact with Heigl that she wants Heigl to minimize the seriousness of this incident.
