Can you spot the hidden message? T-Shirt says "Children Be Gay."
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 03:21 PM by KurtNYC

I'm walking down Kensington Avenue in Toronto last weekend and I see this Uprising bookstore with a bunch of t-shirts in the front window. One t-shirt says "Children Be Gay." with a picture of two smiling boys (heads only), one of whom is wearing a cub scout hat.

(begin sarcasm) Now I may not be a "homosexual detection expert" but I'm pretty sure there is some kind of hidden pro gay message going on here. (sarcasm off)

Seriously, it seemed to be answering back to the Sponge Bob paranoia in a smart alec kind of way. I didn't have a camera with me and when I went back the next day to get a picture, that T-shirt was the only one missing (sold or ?). Anybody seen someone wearing one?

3. Yahtzee!
I note the graphic is on their wall also. Middle left in this photo:

To paraphrase JFK: Ask not the size of the T-shirt, ask the size of the cajones it takes to wear that in a red state.

You were in Canada - that was a Wolf Cub cap. (Had they been girls, and older, they would have been Girl Guides.) I've never known what caused you southern north american types to rewrite the scouting/guiding lexicon, but there you are.

Uprising Bookstore doesn't have its own website, but it's listed here:
http://www.torontothebetter.net/2uprsg.htm
and mentioned on the "leading non-profit association for the attractions sector" website as a participant in an Art Gallery of Ontario exhibit:
http://www.attractions.on.ca/wnstory/wnstory154.php

In addition, a prototype of people-friendly police riot gear will be on view, developed by youth at Uprising, a radical bookstore in Toronto's Kensington Market, and artist Kori Newkirk.
