1. it's really a boring old piece of fluff...

he just kind of wanders all over the place and makes no discernable point...other than some TV promotes an anti-gay, anti-minority agenda that even left-wing Hollywood types like Oprah, Ricki, Jenny and Phil subscribe to...and if you were unaware of this fact, then like Max, you have not been watching...not that i don't usually like his writing and value his perspective, but this must be the worst article he has ever written...

2. Sorry to disagree, but I liked it...

Anything that starts my brain early in the morning has value in my books.

He articulated some thoughts I've been having recently.

Have you read any of his other essays? I really liked "Abu Ghraib: Postcards From the Edge," "Jesusland" and "Bringing Down the Hope: Condoleezza Rice, Black Capitalism and War..."

He is usually a very good writer - I just didn't find this particular article very good...it was just too unfocused for my tastes...

"There's Something About Outing Mary" was pretty good, too...

If I COULD write (anything besides screed here at DU), I would...
