I think it would be going too far, as far as reprecussions go.
I feel, that if, when President Obama gets around to pushing his tax reform bill, if the Democratic leadership is at all willing to support us, as we support them, then they should attach to the tax reform stipulations that residents of States who have written discrimination into either law, or their constitution, that NO marriage will be legally recognized by the government at all. That ALL adults filing taxes have to file as single.. no married filing as a couple or married filing seperately. Still allow for them to claim all other dependants (children, caring for an elderly family member) but take away all tax incentives for married couples that they gain directly from their marriage until discrimination laws are repealed. Maybe then, people in states who have deigned to arbitrarily stomp all over our rights can get a taste of what it feels like. A small taste sure, but one that maybe, just MAYBE will let them see just a sliver of what we endure. Of course, it will be just a taste, as they will still be able to see their spouse when he/she is in a critical care condition. They will still be able to make critical medical decisions for their spouse when he/she is ill or injured to the point that he/she can't make decisions for himself/herself. They still won't have to worry about their spouses family walking in should the worst happen to their husband/wife, and raiding the house and home they've built together, and the associated years of legal battles, many times trying to reclaim their own personal property! just to name a few things that they still won't have to endure that we do!
