Parts of it were funny but over all it was typical fanfiction based on a TV show. The piece and others are still up, but they are on that forum where on the eve of Prop8 they had a big discussion about gay marriage and I realized that there is no such thing as outreach, bigotry is pretty entrentched. That's why I am reluctant to link to that site. It's a shame, because I did enjoy writing fanfic for a hobby, but new directions and someday I might write about what I figure would be the ideal crew for a long term space mission to colonize other planets: a gay crew! Maybe four couples, two male, two female, solves the problem of isolation and loneliness in space and unless something went horribly awry, there would be no off spring! Hey just a thougt maybe it would be called: Gay Space 2067 , or something like that.;-)
Anway, my long winded synopsis of the fic:
Summary: In the year 2050, John and Aeryn’s grandson, James “Jimmy” T. Crichton, M.D. travels to a post-apocalyptic Earth, now called Terra Nuevo, where gene spliced animal-human hybrids live under the rule of the mysterious Antioch Board of Commissioners headquartered in a city called New Jerusalem, formerly ,Chicago. Jimmy is in search of his sister who disappeared a year prior while doing her studies in genetic anthropology.
It seems that the human genome is the perfect living vehicle for storing all of worm hole technology encoded into human DNA.
He finds his sister, now a Ph.D working for one Harvest Moon, a high commissioner for the Antioch Board of Commissioner’s, in short order they learn that Harvest Moon, a.k.a. Harvey Moon is the assumed name of Scorpius, making a play on Aeryn’s name: Moon/Sun. Incidentally, Scorpius has also embedded a neural clone of himself into his own brain for trustworthy companionship. Thus, Harvey is and has, his own Harvey.
In the course of events the two younger Crichton’s travel back in time, via a worm hole, to meet a young John and Aeryn who warn them not to meddle with worm hole tech.
Two very powerfully connected strangers called Aeries Shin and John Doa appear, who raise the specter of the ethical and moral implications of traveling in worm holes, which would allow alterations in space time and even changing realities in alternate Universes, a power that no one but the Creator should have.
Shin and Doa, though competitors for the hearts and minds of our protagonists work for the same employer, “The Big Guy,” the Creator of all. They represent The Big Guy’s ultimate position on worm holes, that the technology is not the great issue, but that it is a moral problem, a problem of hubris and is out of bounds.
We also meet Col. Josh and Suze Migdal, the parents of Kareyn Migdal, inhabitants of Ah Shailem, an earth like planet, where the final show down between The Free and Unfettered Leviathan Gunship Jonas and the pursuing Scarran Admiral Katzi takes place.
After the great battle a tribunal is called and Katzi stands trial for his war crimes. It is here we learn that Shin and John Doa both work for the All Mighty and that Doa’s full name is Mr. John Sha’taan Doa.
In the end, worm holes can only be used as “sanctioned” worm holes, meaning that they can be used only for mega- distance travel, but sanctioned worm holes cannot be used for time travel, nor to traverse other realities, such capabilities could unravel reality and all of creation, such power does not belong to anyone but the Creator and not mortals. John and Aeryn, Little D, Moosie and DRD 1812 are welcomed on Ah Shailem and decide to settle down on this beautiful peaceful planet to raise their family.
Moya returns to a quiet life in Safe Harbor and The Gunship Jonas continues his mission, with his pilot Kar’resh and his crew, members of Pax Leviathan, to free other Leviathans from the dread control collar, so they too can become free and unfettered Leviathans.
The others possessing forbidden worm hole knowledge, Jimmy Crichton, Eryn Crichton, Scorpius and Rengard Katzi cannot be allowed to keep such knowledge, rather than being destroyed they undergo a mental lavage which erases their worm hole tech knowledge and all go onto live productive lives in their varying ways. Scorpy and Rengard open a bar in the Castro district and become long term partners and give up their bellicose ways.
The point of the story was to tell a ripping good yarn with Farscape characters and to explore the possibility of using the human genome as a living repository of complex data, to look at gene splicing technology and the implications to those who might be subject to it some day, the hybrids; to consider the ethics and morality of the proposed worm hole technology and the theoretical capability of space time travel and travel to alternate universes and how that might lead to altering all of creation and is therefore morally untenable and to weight it against free will and the ability to walk away from such power, which is considered hubris and hopefully to have lot’s of fun in the telling and the reading of the saga. ......
Crickets.
:boring:
