Was watching the 60 Minutes piece last night on Barney Frank. My mother, my sister, and my same-sex partner, all of whom are intelligent and well-read, almost in one voice exclaimed "Oh my God HE'S GAY?" when the topic came up in the piece. WTF? I mean, I guess it's a good thing that he's not immediately associated with his sexuality but it IS pretty much common knowledge, right? I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone!

1. Hey, take it easy on us straights

A lot of us don't have a well developed gaydar nor are we able to remember sports stats (like hetero men are supposed to) let alone who or who isn't gay.

To show you how bad it is, I personally learned that Nathan Lane is gay earlier this year when I watched a Family Guy episode where they went to Massachusetts, and Peter thought it would be funny to trick Nathan into marrying him with the joke being on Nathan because two men can't marry each other. Of course, Brian pointed out that in Massachusetts, they can.

I'm pretty surprised that anyone knowledgeable about politics at all would not know that Barney Frank is gay. Especially after the very infamous slip years ago from Dick Armey calling him "Barney Fag."
