1. I like green tea, it has much less caffeine.
Or so I'm told, and I prefer that to decaf.

"Unless specifically decaffeinated, green tea contains caffeine.<49> While coffee and tea are both sources of caffeine, the amount of caffeine in any single serving of these beverages varies significantly. An average serving of brewed coffee contains 145 mg of caffeine, the same serving size of green tea provides 25 mg (black tea provides 47–60 mg and white tea 15 mg).<50> One of the more confusing aspects of caffeine content is the fact that while coffee contains less caffeine than tea when measured in its dry form, the caffeine content of a prepared cup of coffee is significantly higher than the caffeine content of a prepared cup of tea.<51>"

2. tea caffeine works differently than coffee
I think it has to do with the roasting process. But green tea has antioxidants which are very beneficial.

3. Black teas=more caffeine
Black teas have a larger caffeine load than coffee beans, especially if one takes tea with cream, as the fats in the creamer allow the body to metabolize even more caffeine.

Despite the fact that we're here in the 21st Century/shiny flashy future, humanity has yet to invent a decaffeination process that does not utterly destroy the flavor of the coffee or tea.

I'd recommend green tea without cream, or any of the multitude of herbal teas available.

Extra note: avoid teas made with other caffeine-rich leaves: maté, guarana and guayusa.

4. I have been experimenting.......
a lot in the past few months with various teas in an effort to reduce my caffeine intake as it can make my heart race.
The main problem is I love the taste of a strong black tea....and nothing I was trying herb wise or non-caf wise was doing the trick.

until I met Barry's Decaf...which I love. It is very full bodied, actually tastes like it should put hair on your chest, but does not give me any problems with my heart. It's an Irish tea that I can only find in one store locally, but can be found on Barry's Teas website....and I don't know the answer about the antioxidents.

I have one cup of the Barry's decaf when I get up, and then usually a cup of green or white midmorning, then move on to herbals or honeybush in the afternoon.

5. I drink a quart and a half
of herbal ice tea every day. Different berries and herbs. All have zero caffeine. Many different kinds can be found in the grocery store. Roobios is another good one. My urologist told me if I keep doing that, I'll never pass another kidney stone. I have a big, 64 oz sippy cup I carry every where with me full of the tea. Much cheaper than everything other than water.

7. Coffee also has antioxidents, especially fresh ground
I read you have to consume it within a half hour to gain benefit.

9. Caffeine is quite volatile,
so brewing your tea for about thirty seconds, dumping the water, and adding new water to the same leaves will remove a huge percentage of the caffeine without killing the flavor.
