Poll question: PENISES: Cut, un-cut or intact?
Edited on Wed Apr-27-11 02:58 AM by Cronus Protagonist
Quick fun survey of DU. Which are you?

(Mods: this is not a joke, this is a serious subject with an odd approach.)

1. You left out an option for those who are cut who wish they were never mutilated.
Like we had a choice as a new-born...

8. I'm uncut and actually have a black t-shirt to prove it.
with "uncut" printed in small white letters on front, and on back it sez "IFC.com"
which is some off-beat cabal channel's acronym.

I love wearing it to The Club, to see how people respond to it.

15. Do your partners notice any difference regarding the "gliding mechanism?"
That supposedly makes sex better for the female? I've read about this online and was wondering if it's true.

27. It is absolutely true
An intact penis has a gliding motion just like those toys that come in little tubes that you can hardly hold because the outer layer is not held in check by the interior. A cut penis has an action similar to a stick.

40. That is absolutely right.
Uncut ones feel much better during sex. The foreskin has a purpose. A cut one feels like a stick.
It makes me sad that so many men had their foreskins cut off when they were babies and had no choice in the matter. I assume the cut ones don't know what they are missing.

I say this as a mature female who has experienced mostly cut, but a few uncut ones. They are much much better.

I didn't know about foreskins until I met a guy who had one. I did not know much about penises, and thought they naturally came cut. I had no idea how much better sex was with an uncut guy.

Mother Nature thinks of everything!!

That's "cut"
This labeling has been well established in polite society already... but hmmmm..... does the fancy wording mean you're gilding the lily for some psychological gain, or do you just enjoy flowery language in general? :D

10. I was circumscised at birth for health reasons, like most newborn males in the early 1960's
Personally, I've never regarded it as mutilation.

11. cut, but oh well. I don;t remember feeling traumatized, and the junk works fine...
if I had my choice, I'd have chosen uncut. My friends with boy children almost universally choose uncut. There is no good reason to do it. But honestly, aren't there more important things to worry about?

18. There are very good reasons for circumcision
Circumcised males are less prone to contract and spead STDs including HIV, HPVs and cervical cancer to female sex partners. Look it up.

Sometimes memes hang around forever. The problem, I think, in some cases, is deliberate ignorance, not always a lack of educational material.

39. I think the CDC has the potential to really damage its credibility with this.
There are some serious liability implications should an official government organization come out with a reccomendation for unneccessary neonatal surgery. And they also seem to be spreading a potentially dangerous public health message. "If you're circumcised you don't have to worry about AIDS or other STDs". I know that's not what they're really saying, but that's the message that's getting propogated in the popular media, and the message that lots of Americans (not the brightest bulbs in the bunch) are likely to pick up on. A dangerous message in a country where 80% of the sexually active male population is circumcised and we still manage to have just about the worst STD rates in the developed world (the rest of which mostly doesn't circumcise).

So unfortunately, yes, I think you're right about that.

23. I'm calling BS. Discussions of circumcision on DU are never "quick fun surveys"
They're surefire, happens-every-time flamewar starters--especially when the OP is so so SO clearly biased. But I digress.

My prediction: this thread will go on for hours, with plenty of angry language and ad hominem attacks from both sides, before finally being put out of its misery by the Mods. Please don't insult our intelligence and act like this is a big shock to you.

As predictable as the tides, once having been introduced, this discussion topic does not and will not end well.

37. They'll probably just waste stem cell research on diseases, accident victims etc.
While true victims like me suffer in near-silence!

I know its an insignificant problem but it still pisses me off. I wish I could personally speak to every adult male considering this particular option. Just a little "heads up" (sorry) about what to expect.

41. You did not offer a choice for female preference.
I prefer uncut. They glide much better. You can have sex and not get sore. The foreskin lets the man glide inside his own skin.

Unfortunately in my age group, baby boomers, the vast majority are cut. That's sad.

I don't think infants should be circumcised. They should make the choice when they are old enough.
